Testimonials from MCEC Clients...

"Throughout a painful process, Mary and Laura helped to maintain calm and reason, which was key to eventually reaching a fair outcome. I admit that as a male, I was initially concerned that my side might be short changed. In retrospect, I can say that such a fear was unfounded."

"The divorce process was the most stressful year of my life. Choosing mediation rather than lawyers was a good decision for my ex-husband and I. It was not easy, we had many obstacles. Mary & Laura supported us during difficult negotiations and kept us focused on our ultimate goal: to provide a loving environment for our 2 children and a financial agreement that was fair for both parties."

"The Mediation Center took a very stressful & trying situation and created a calm environment in which to discuss the terms surrounding our divorce. As a male, working with two women, I felt very much at ease. They conducted themselves as true professionals & looked out for our two children."

"Divorce, the legal and finite separation of a husband and wife is probably the most difficult and stressful emotional happening in one's life other than the death of a loved one. The most common process requires that the parties hire combatants (attorneys) to represent their rights, to even the score, set things straight, and obtain revenge. The process by itself is aggressive, adds to the division of a family, and heightens animosity. The outcome is time consuming, emotionally draining and very costly. Families are left emotionally divided. Time is money and the more time you spend fighting the more it costs you, your spouse, and your children, emotionally and financially.

Mediation is a process that brings parties together through the divorce process; does so quickly and in turn saves both individual and family stress. Mediation is not for everyone, but it should be. If you are prepared and willing to check your anger and ego at the door, and willing to agree and work toward a well planned, fair and equitable division and separation, while maintaining your sanity, and caring for your children, mediation should be your only choice in divorce. It is also the most expeditious and economical vehicle, you and your spouse are in total control throughout the process and in the driver's seat.

Laura and Mary are highly trained and incredibly skilled mediators. I like to refer to them as "Divorce Coaches"; they teach you the rules, provide you with drills and guide you through the process of divorce; professionally, technically, with care and devotion. Laura and Mary Healey know the rules, which are the State of Connecticut laws. With any good coach, once you are taught the rules you quickly learn what you can and should expect in divorce, and what is really fair and equitable. As part of the process, Laura and Mary provide you with take home work, which like running athletic drills, keep your head in the game and prepare you one step at a time, always in the direction of your objective, always remaining focused. You and your spouse maintain full control over the process while being skillfully and craftfully guided. Each step through the mediation process is strategic and each session builds upon the last, fully preparing you and your spouse. Mary and Laura insure that the process progresses steadily and calmly and work toward your pace, as every couple will progress at different levels and speeds. As mediators Laura and Mary help work through tough and complex issues so that the parties find acceptable and agreed solutions in areas that are very difficult to manage. When we reached the end, the execution of an agreement, I felt that we had been cared for and our children had been cared for. We were provided with the most professional, and technical consultation throughout the process, and without reservation, I would recommend to anyone and everyone the mediation services provided by Mary and Laura at the Mediation Center of Eastern Connecticut."
